New to this blogging thing

Hello internet people!

As you may or may not be aware; I am brand new to this blogging thing.

It’s honestly pretty amazing that I’ve gotten this far into a blog post because I have a hate-hate relationship with electronics. So as with most things, there is a backstory as to where my tech-deficiency comes from. As a homeschool kid I did a lot of things such as playing in the woods with my brother Casey. Rather than playing video games, we played with sticks and acorns in our hometown of Winthrop Maine. My technology skills don’t extend very far past Nintendo 64 & flip phones. (Let’s just say I hope they don’t start making typing skills as part of an IQ test)

Instead of playing on my phone I fish in my kayak, enjoy a cold PBR with my rugby friends or have a date night with my smokin’ fiancée Emily.

So at this point you’re probably wondering why a guy who doesn’t know how to properly work a keyboard wants to start a blog. Well throughout these past few years my life has been kind of a whirlwind. So I am here to blog about the stuff I like to do to help myself put perspective on everything I am able to do. There are a lot of things that I have not been able to do since spring of 2016 when I was diagnosed with (get ready for some long words) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (see told you they’re long). This is a type of cancer of the bone marrow & blood, bummer right? So I am writing this because it sucks, but I sure as hell am not letting it get in the way of what I do.

Here are some examples of how I don’t let cancer rule my life (while simultaneously freaking my doctors out). Here we go!

Since May 2016 I have…

1. Returned to college & graduated with my bachelors degree in History

2. Gone camping in remote locations

3. Eaten strange foods in foreign countries

4. Returned to playing rugby (with Leukemia & a mediport… nbd)

5. Out of state road trips in blizzards

6. Spilled burning solder on myself (ok… that one was an accident)

7. Got engaged

8. Went on a rugby tour to England

9. Hung out with Adrian Ryan*

10. Regained 20+lbs of muscle lost during treatment

Just to name a few

So to sum it up; this blog will consist of life perspective of a twenty-something year old dude in Maine, are you hooked yet? Me neither.

Be good adventurous my friends,

Zach

PS: my fiancée typed this entire thing for me… told you I’m no wiz kid at computers. I’ll type my own blog post next time!

… probably

*This is probably the most dangerous thing on the list, more details to come.
